Quick arrests after armed robbery Thursday November 26 2009

It took less than 10 minutes for Peel Regional Police to nab four armed robbery suspects and recover the stolen property after a holdup in an east end driveway Tuesday night.

Four men were arrested in a car in nearby Vaughan and a replica firearm was found tossed in a nearby field at 9:40 p.m., just 10 minutes after four victims said they were robbed, according to police.

The victims, two Brampton men aged 19 and 23, and two Toronto men both aged 21, had just pulled into a residential driveway on a street in the area of Queen Street East and McVean Drive in Brampton, according to police. One of the victims ran into the house to get something, and when he came out he was confronted by two men, one of them armed with a gun.

All four victims were robbed of their personal belongings, and the suspects escaped...

H1N1 ruled out as cause of boy’s death Thursday November 26 2009

The H1N1 virus did not cause the sudden death of a 10-year-old Brampton boy on Monday, the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario has confirmed.

Early reports suggest the boy died Monday afternoon after falling ill overnight Sunday.

The youngster woke up in the middle of the night and was vomiting, so his parents kept him home from school.

His condition worsened, and when his father tried to wake him around 12:30 p.m., he was unresponsive, Peel Regional Police said.

Paramedics arrived at the boy’s home in the area of McLaughlin Road and Sandalwood Parkway and tried to revive him, but he had no vital signs.

He was then rushed to Brampton Civic Hospital at 1 p.m. on Monday where he was pronounced deceased.
