BRAMPTON - Exotic music, food and art will converge on downtown Brampton, at the sixth annual Savannah Festival of Rhythms this Sunday.
The festival, which presents a line-up live music performed by local and international artists, highlights calypso, Latin, reggae and R & B rhythms said organizer Alex Francis.
“We want to emphasize a mix in music this year,” he said. “We have some music that’s very easy to listen to, and then we contrast that with some real hot salsa, for example.”
Musicians will take the stage in the Garden Square— and if inclement weather prevails, the festivities will move indoors to the Rose Theatre.
In addition to performers— such as Roy Cape, Virgil Scott, Aubrey Mann and Lady Son Y Articulo Viente— there will be local artisans showcasing their wares, and vendors selling exotic food.
Francis describes the festival as “interactive” and said it’s a cultural event all Bramptonians can enjoy.
The Savannah Festival of Rhythms runs from noon to 6 p.m., and is a free event.
“The music is eclectic,” said Francis, who encourages everybody to stop by. “There’s no limit to where we’ll go with our programming.”
