Artist reveals his Secrets

BRAMPTON - Through his art, Jeet Aulakh is revealing something he feels most people can't see— a connection with God.
“Even though we experience it, we don't see it, but we know it's here,” he said.
This is the premise for Secrets, his five-day exhibit running at Beaux-Arts July 22 to 26.
Aulakh, a recognized name in contemporary Indian art, compares his work to the clouds— always changing shape and form. He is guided, he explained, by a cosmic force and supernatural energy that enables his work to “come by itself”.
He— as the artist, as the creator— is the medium. His more recent works art is the result of his life experiences, he said, and it wasn't until he tried to connect with the theme of God that he discovered this concept.
Aulakh, a self-described poet artist, creates an air of mystery and magnetism through his work.
His painting is careful, yet deliberate, which provokes deep contemplation. Oil on canvas is one of his preferred techniques, as is a colour wash and coal using his fingers.
“People have told me they've felt something very personal, very meditative when looking at my paintings,” he told The Guardian.
“It's a different experience for everybody.”
Though his influences are Indian, he feels his work is universal and transcends cultural boundaries.
Aulakh, a guest exhibitor at Beaux-Arts Brampton, will be present at the exhibit on July 25 and 26.
