Tributes to highlight Hype Events season

BRAMPTON - Musical tributes, sketch comedy and exclusive performances highlight the roster of Hype Events’ 2008/2009 season.
Returning for a third year to the Rose Theatre, Hype Events will present a combination of well-known artists and tribute performers to local audiences.
The September to May season will feature nine acts with “a little something for everyone,” said Paul Bailey, director of Hype Events.
Six of the presentations are first-rate tribute shows featuring the music of The Beatles, Supertramp, Genesis, David Bowie, Chicago and Elvis Presley.
“I think the fact that people know what to expect is what makes a tribute show appealing,” he said. “I bring in these high-calibre salutes to give people a chance to revisit some of their favourite music.”
David Bowie and Supertramp have even endorsed their tribute performers, said Bailey.
Memories of the King, the Elvis tribute, will focus on the legend’s gospel recordings.
“It’s a huge show,” remarked Bailey, who said it is the second time he will present this particular show.
In addition to the tribute acts, Hype Events will present an up close and personal unplugged performance by Colin James; a Christmas show presented by the Celtic Tenors; and a performance by the Second City comedy troupe.
“I am extremely happy about the line-up this year,” said Bailey. “We have a little something for everyone.”
Tickets are on sale now for the upcoming Hype Events season, and are available at the Rose Theatre box office. Discounts are offered for the purchase of three show and six shows.
