Region of Peel hosts community ‘Green Days’ in April and May

to raise awareness about the importance of organics recycling

BRAMPTON, ON. (March 28, 2008) – During April and May, the Region of Peel will once again host a series of ‘Green Days’ at shopping centres and community events in Peel. These interactive outreach events will give Peel residents an opportunity to speak with staff and learn more about Peel’s Organics Recycling Program.

“Last year, following the launch of the Organics Recycling Program, the Region hosted several Green Days, which were very well received by residents,” says Dave Gordon, Manager, Waste Planning. “Now that we are entering the second year of the program, we would like to congratulate residents for their great efforts and encourage everyone to take part in the program.”

Region of Peel staff will have an organics recycling booth set up at each ‘Green Day’ event. Residents can interact with staff and learn about the materials used in the Organics Recycling Program, such as the green bin, kitchen container, various bin liners, and examples of what items are accepted and are not accepted in the program.
