BRAMPTON - The Brampton Battlecats completed the home portion of their Central Ontario Baseball Association (COBA) Major Elite regular season losing a squeaker last Tuesday night at Dash Field in Brampton. The Battlecats lost a back-and-forth game 9-8 to the Etobicoke Rangers. Etobicoke jumped out to an early 7-2 lead smacking a pair of home runs off of rookie starting pitcher Steve Hough. The Battlecats fought back, taking advantage of some Etobicoke errors to grab an 8-7 lead in the seventh inning. However, that did not last as Etobicoke scored two runs against the bullpen in the eighth.Brampton had one more league game to make up as the team traveled to Hamilton on Thursday to face the Glanbrook Grizzlies in a game that had been rained out earlier this month. The 'Cats were up 6-2 in the top of the fifth inning when it started to rain and washed out the remainder of the contest.Because of the large number of games that the COBA league has to make up from this rainy summer the Battlecats won't get that one made up. Their playoffs begin tonight as they face Burlington at 7:30 p.m. in Burlington with a to-be-determined game tomorrow.
